Privacy Policy
Effective date: February 27, 2026
Macrios is designed as a local-first iOS application. This policy explains how your information is handled when you use Macrios. If you do not agree with this policy, do not use the app.
1. Local-First Data Handling
Macrios does not operate cloud servers for personal nutrition logs. We do not collect, store, or transmit your health or nutrition records to external Macrios-controlled servers.
Macrios does not collect, store, or transmit user health data to external servers.
- Calorie and macro logs are stored locally in your iOS app container.
- Body metrics entered in the app are stored locally unless you choose to sync with Apple Health.
- Recipe text and OCR scan results are processed on-device.
2. Health Data and HealthKit
If you grant permission, Macrios uses Apple HealthKit APIs to read or write health-related values, such as body metrics and energy values. HealthKit data is governed by Apple's security model and your iOS permissions.
- Macrios only accesses the categories you explicitly authorize in Health permissions.
- You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
- Macrios does not sell HealthKit data and does not transmit HealthKit records to third parties.
3. Apple Native Frameworks
Macrios uses Apple-native frameworks, including VisionKit for OCR workflows and StoreKit for in-app purchases and subscriptions. Purchase processing is handled by Apple. Macrios does not receive your full payment credentials.
4. Purchases and Subscription Metadata
To unlock Pro features, Macrios may rely on StoreKit receipt and entitlement information available on your device. This information is used to validate access to paid features and manage restore purchases.
5. No Advertising Profiling
Macrios is not built around advertising networks and does not track your nutrition behavior for ad targeting. We do not broker your health or macro logs to data aggregators.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Because data is stored locally, retention is controlled primarily by you. Deleting entries in the app removes them from the app database. Deleting the app from your device removes local app-container data, subject to iOS behavior and your backup configuration.
7. Security
We use iOS platform protections and app sandboxing to help safeguard local data. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but Macrios is architected to minimize exposure by avoiding server-side storage of personal nutrition records.
8. Children's Privacy
Macrios is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided inappropriate information through the app, contact us and we will review the request.
9. App Store Privacy Compliance
Macrios is developed to comply with Apple's App Store privacy requirements, including data disclosure expectations and permission-based access for sensitive categories.
10. Policy Updates
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Material updates will be reflected by a revised effective date. Your continued use of Macrios after updates means you accept the revised policy.
